More than 200 people were vaccinated against Covid 19 today bringing the total number of people immunised on Alderney up to 899.
Island Medical Centre staff have worked tirelessly to get residents vaccinated as soon as a fresh batch of shots arrives.
Today 206 of the Island’s over-75s were vaccinated in a little over 3.5 hours.
IMC Practice Manager Tracy Jean said:
‘That works out to about one vaccination per minute, which is pretty good going!’
The team will take a well deserved day off tomorrow – ready for another consignment of 300 vaccines scheduled to arrive at the end of the week.
The IMC team will then set about administering the second dose to the people who were vaccinated first – those deemed by Public Health to be in the most ‘at risk’ categories.
Mrs Jean said:
‘For the next couple of weeks the vaccination programme will be centred around giving a second dose of vaccine to these priority groups before we move down the priority list into the next catagory of people.
‘We do realise that people are keen for us to get to their tier but Alderney is currently a little bit ahead of Guernsey in going down the tiers. Your turn will soon arrive and we will be in touch as soon as supply allows.’
