States to approve October 10th for By-Election

A by-election will be held to replace David Earl's seat on the States

Residents are set to go to the polls on Saturday October 10th to elect a new States Member to replace David Earl, who recently resigned.

Sitting politicians will be asked to approve the date at the September States meeting on September 9th.

The date would require nominations to be received between September 16th and September 24th.

The new States Memer would then take his or her seat at the October full States meeting.

Mr Earl’s positions on various committees and working groups were shared between other States Members at a special meeting of the Policy and Finance Committee.

Christian Harris was made chairman of the Finance Committee and Kevin Gentle took on the role of Deputy Chairman of P&F. Annie Burgess took over his seat on the Good Governance Group and Steve Roberts took his seat on the Air Transport Advisory Group. Annie Burgess also became Member to mirror the Guernsey Committee for Economic Development.
