2 min read

A hustings session and a drop-in morning will be held to allow the public to engage with candidates for the by-election.

A by-election to find a candidate to take the seat recently vacated by David Earl will takes place on 10th October

The hustings, on Wednesday 30th September, will take a ‘Question Time’ style format with questions submitted by the community in advance.

When all the questions have been received they will be collated in order to identify the issues which appear most important to the people who have submitted them. One person from each group of questions selected will then be invited to put the question to the candidates on the night.

Candidates will also be given the opportunity to verbally share their manifestos with the public on the night.

A ‘Drop-in Session’ will also be held to allow the candidates to personally address any questions that people have following the Hustings.

It is hoped that this provides a framework for the community to engage with the candidates and to allow the candidates to share their views.

The Hustings will take place from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday 30th September in the Island Hall.

Questions should be sent to the President’s Secretary at the Island Hall (email president.alderney@gov.gg) by midday on Tuesday 29 September.

The drop in session will be held from 9.30am-12.30pm on Saturday 3rd October in the Anne French Room at the Island Hall.

Everyone is welcome to attend the drop in morning to meet the candidates.
