The Island Medical Centre team has now vaccinated 1,060 people.

Residents at the Care Home, the Jubilee, in the hospital, all front line health and social care workers, all those of 80 and above and a good proportion of over 75s have now been vaccinated.

Another 300 doses of the AstraZeneca vacccine is due later this week and they will be used as the second dose for the most vulnerable groups, in line with the policy of the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation.

IMC Office Manager Tracy Jean said:

‘First dose vaccines for lower priority groups are subject to supply from Guernsey and we will continue vaccinating Alderney residents as soon as supply resumes.

‘Whilst we know it is very disappointing that we are not continuing down the priority list at this present time and you may have missed your slot because you were self-isolating or you have changed your mind and now wish to have the vaccination, The IMC has to follow the rules set out by Public Health.

‘Please, rest assured as soon as we have been allocated more supply of the vaccine we will resume the vaccination programme.

‘Team IMC are ready, willing and able!’
