Already I have seen an increase in people walking. The same happened last time we had lockdown. It is a tremendous way to get exercise as well as explore places on the island we have not been to in a while.

Lets make it a little more interesting . . .

AY News is offering a small prize at the end of the week for the best photo submitted. All entries must be submitted by email to by 6:00 pm this Sunday evening (31st Jan).

The category is: “our Victorian forts”

The rules:

  • Must be taken this week. No already posted photos. (We will be checking the images date!)
  • Must be taken on a phone camera
  • Must include the category outlined above
  • Must be in focus 🙂

Whilst walking please ensure you adhere to social distancing guidelines.

As always, be careful and use common sense when near the water, cliffs edge etc.

The winner will be announced here on AY News at 10:00 am Saturday morning, at which time another interesting competition will begin. The winner will receive their prize coupon immediately !

Are there any of our island photographers willing to send in some pointers that we can share with our intrepid walkers.
