Immunisation update

2 min read

Alderney’s Island Medical Centre have now confirmed that as of Wednesday 20th January, they have vaccinated 328 recipients against COVID-19 with the AstraZeneca vaccine. A number of Alderney’s health and care workers also received the Pfizer vaccine in Guernsey. This is great news for the island that has a population of roughly 1200 people in winter and means up to 25% of the population has received the vaccine so far.

There are strict guidelines as to when we are each eligible for the vaccine. And many of you are probably wondering when your turn will come, and how the IMC determines who is next!

Simply put, it is decided through searches of their patient records. Most of us at one time or another have attended the medical centre and consequently been put on record. The IMC’s information systems are robust, secure and accurately providing the lists of  eligible recipients.

But, you may be wondering, what happens if you have never registered or visited the IMC? Dr Sally Simmons and Practice Manager Tracy Jean are requesting that all full-time residents that have a GY number register with the IMC so that your appropriate place in the queue can be ensured. So if you haven’t already done so, please register with the IMC as soon as possible!
