Helping Hands Appeal Fund to be wound up

1 min read

As we approach the first anniversary of setting up the Helping Hands Appeal, the Awards Panel has reviewed the operation of the Fund.

Due to the incredible generosity of the Alderney community, the support of family and friends, the support made available by Guernsey and our professional civil service advising on the availability of benefits, there have been very few residents needing assistance from the fund which has left a substantial balance remaining of unallocated funds.

It has been decided, therefore, that now would be an appropriate point to close down the fund and accordingly it is intended to offer a pro rata return of the donations or, if preferred, their donation can be given to a charity of the donor’s choosing.

Donors are being asked to contact the President’s Secretary, Gill Trousdale by email (president.alderney@gov.gg) or phone on 820001, to let their wishes be know.

The President said: “I would like to express my deep gratitude to all those who offered support by making a donation. It is testament to the strength of the community that so few required short term financial support during what were incredibly uncertain times.”
