Speaking on QUAY-FM 107.1 this evening, Bill Abel, the new Chair of Alderney’s Policy and Finance said:

‘I am tasked to inform the community of a new regulation issued today:

‘With increasing number of seeding case the CCA, enacted regulations that as of 0001 on 25th January 2021 all persons entering Alderney from Guernsey must self-isolate for 14 days.’

‘As everybody will understand with increasing community seeding in Guernsey, this regulation will apply from midnight tonight’

Mr Abel said this was not retrospective.

Exemptions will be granted for emergency medical purposes, and the civil servants are working urgently on drafting the necessary provisions.

  1. “ Exemptions will be granted for emergency medical purposes, and the civil servants are working urgently on drafting the necessary provisions.”

Civil servants just need a desk and a pc. There is no need for them to travel.

  2. Surely making people have a negative covid test before travel would be the common sense thing to do!

  3. In which case- except for post and medical supplies -and REALLY essential workers such as medical or urgently required infrastructure staff- flights for passengers should be immediately stopped. Then a whole island testing programme should be put into force. Then after 3 weeks of no positive cases .We can open the island businesses again for the resident population. Does that make sense to any one else ?
