Cottage wall damaged in apparent hit by car

Police are seeking the driver of a car who ploughed into the wall of a cottage in the early hours of the morning.

A member of the public called into the police station on Queen Elizabeth II Street to alert them to the damage to the property, which faces the bottom QE2 Street on Church Road and lies just in front of a Stop sign.

The shape of the indentation appeared to be that of a car’s front end

Alderney Police think the accident happened between 2.30am and 3.30am on Sunday morning. They believe substantial damage would have been caused to the front end of the vehicle, which they think may be a saloon car.

They said no-one had yet come forward to claim responsibility for the accident.

A spokesman for Alderney Police said they were investigating the accident and appealed for anyone with any information about it to contact them.

They will be examining CCTV footage and conducting house to house enquiries.

Anyone with information can contact Alderney Police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
