Attempt to defer Nunnery lease decision defeated

In an amendment proposed by Graham McKinley and Steve Roberts, it was proposed to defer a decision on the future of the Alderney Bird Observatory’s lease of The Nunnery by two months.

Recommending the decision be deferred, Steve Roberts said that many of the members were: ‘running blind’ and decisions needed to be made on facts.

Summarising, Graham McKinley said he was asking in the amendment for “8-10 weeks, time to breathe”.

In a division, the amendment failed.

The States continued to debate the substantive motion, which is to consider terminating the ABO‘s tenancy agreement.
