Just six new cases of Covid 19 were identified in Guernsey by yesterday teatime and none of them stemmed from unexplained community sources.
Director of Public Health Dr Nicola Brink announced the ‘important news’ in a video from her office on Saturday evening.
‘As of 6pm this evening we’ve had a total of six new cases and none of these were caused by unexplained community seeding.
‘That’s a really important result for us today. Of course we will be taking off multiple further test runs during the course of the evening so the situation may change.’
Figures on the States of Guernesy Covid testing page have not yet been updated to show whether any further cases were in fact found.
Dr Brink has previously said that a period of around two weeks without any unexplained community cases is required for lockdown restrictions to begin easing.
