Scout group to join Beavers and Cubs in New Year
1 min read
Alderney youngsters can look forward to an active new year with the launch of three new scouting groups.
Based at the Scout Hut at Saye, Alderney Cubs and Beavers were started up in October by Kerry and Julie Benney and James Butel.
Earlier this year they issued an appeal to parents whose children would be interested in joining and had an enthusiastic response.
They now have 20 six to eight year olds in the Beavers, run by Kerry and Julie, and 17 eight-11 year old Cubs, run by James.
This month a Scout group will start meeting up organised by Tim Cotton and Marcus Odoli, who also lend a hand with the younger groups.
The children meet up to learn new skills and weather permitting, have fun doing activities outdoors.

Kerry appealed to any adults who could spare a few hours a week to help out.
‘We all work as a team to make sure we can provide a great program for the children and ensure activities are safe and well-panned.
‘We would love to hear from anyone who would like to help. This way we could do more things outside and help children to enjoy our great island.’
