Community spirit shines in Christmas light display

1 min read

One of the highlights of living in such a wonderful community is the effort people go to for all and any event that may be happening. The recent pantomime, the amazing spirit earlier in the year during our lockdown phases and of course now…for Christmas.

We left our run a little late but wanted to try and capture some of the beautiful lights displays around the island. If we have inadvertently missed your display, please send a picture of your Christmas lights to editor@aynews.gg and we will include it.

Next year we hope to start early and build a bit of excitement into lighting up our wee island home. Perhaps we should get our local power utility company to help sponsor the event.

Thanks to Ali Simmonds from Alderney Views for his enthusiasm and for getting dragged out into the bitter cold to take some last minute shots.

  1. Hopefully we can get more of the boats to string some lights next year. The few that did string lights really lit up the harbour precinct which can be cold and dismal at this time of year.
Well done Jake Woodnutt, Simon Wild, Peter Hamer and Nicolette Doardo !!
