Harbour crane out of action
1 min read
The fault was discovered when the crane was moved from its weekend parking point on Monday morning. The harbour team has been working closely with the crane manufacturers to resolve the issue. It is still under warranty following its delivery earlier this year.
Following diagnostic checks undertaken by harbour staff in conjunction with the manufacturers it has been discovered a new part will have to be delivered from Belgium and an engineer brought in to fit it.
Unfortunately, this means the crane will not be able to offload supplies from the MV Trinity today (Tuesday).
The team is working with the crane manufacturers and Alderney Shipping to put in place a contingency plan to service the island.
Plans are also in place to ensure that the engineer complies with full CIVID-19 restrictions as was the case with previous key workers coming to the island.
