Objectors to expansion plans at SOU have received an apparently fatal rebuff today from the English High Court.
The airport’s expansion plans were approved by Eastleigh Council back in April, but were being challenged in the High Court by local protest groups and by Bournemouth Airport.
Keith House of Eastleigh Council said:
“This is good news and supports the decision made by the council”.
The Claimants have seven days in which to file any appeal to today’s ruling.
A spokesperson for Southampton Airport added:
“Southampton Airport has received the positive news that a judge has refused permission for various parties to bring forward a judicial review of Eastleigh Borough Council’s decision to approve our runway extension.
The runway extension will deliver significant economic and employment opportunities to Eastleigh and the Central South of England, as well as connectivity benefits to the Channel Islands, so this is a very welcome decision.”
